Hebrews Chapter 4

2 For it became him, for whom are all things, and through whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the author of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

3 For both he that sanctifieth and they that are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,

4 saying,

5 I will declare thy name unto my brethren,

6 In the midst of the congregation will I sing thy praise.

7 And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold, I and the children whom God hath given me.

8 Since then the children are sharers in flesh and blood, he also himself in like manner partook of the same; that through death he might bring to nought him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

9 and might deliver all them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

10 For verily not to angels doth he give help, but he giveth help to the seed of Abraham.

11 Wherefore it behooved him in all things to be made like unto his brethren, that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.

12 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succor them that are tempted.

13 Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of a heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession,

14 even Jesus;

15 who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also was Moses in all his house.

16 For he hath been counted worthy of more glory than Moses, by so much as he that built the house hath more honor than the house.

1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left of entering into his rest, any one of you might seem to have failed [of it].

2 For indeed we have had glad tidings presented to us, even as they also; but the word of the report did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard.

3 For we enter into the rest who have believed; as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, If they shall enter into my rest; although the works had been completed from [the] foundation of [the] world.

4 For he has said somewhere of the seventh [day] thus, AndGod rested on the seventh day from all his works:

5 and in this again, If they shall enter into my rest.

6 Seeing therefore it remains that some enter into it, and those who first received the glad tidings did not enter in on account of not hearkening to the word,

7 again he determines a certain day, saying, in David, 'To-day,' after so long a time; (according as it has been said before), To-day, if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.

8 For if Jesus had brought them into rest, he would not have spoken afterwards about another day.

9 There remains then a sabbatism to the people ofGod.

10 For he that has entered into his rest, he also has rested from his works, asGod did from his own.

11 Let us therefore use diligence to enter into that rest, that no one may fall after the same example of not hearkening to the word.

12 For the word ofGod [is] living and operative, and sharper than any two-edged sword, and penetrating to [the] division of soul and spirit, both of joints and marrow, and a discerner of the thoughts and intents of [the] heart.

13 And there is not a creature unapparent before him; but all things [are] naked and laid bare to his eyes, with whom we have to do.

14 Having therefore a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son ofGod, let us hold fast the confession.

15 For we have not a high priest not able to sympathise with our infirmities, but tempted in all things in like manner, sin apart.

16 Let us approach therefore with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and find grace for seasonable help.

1 Let’s fear therefore, lest perhaps anyone of you should seem to have come short of a promise of entering into his rest.

2 For indeed we have had good news preached to us, even as they also did, but the word they heard didn’t profit them, because it wasn’t mixed with faith by those who heard.

3 For we who have believed do enter into that rest, even as he has said, “As I swore in my wrath, they will not enter into my rest;” although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

4 For he has said this somewhere about the seventh day, “God rested on the seventh day from all his works;”

10 For he who has entered into his rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from his.

11 Let’s therefore give diligence to enter into that rest, lest anyone fall after the same example of disobedience.

12 For the word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and is able to discern the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

13 There is no creature that is hidden from his sight, but all things are naked and laid open before the eyes of him to whom we must give an account.

14 Having then a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let’s hold tightly to our confession.

15 For we don’t have a high priest who can’t be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but one who has been in all points tempted like we are, yet without sin.

16 Let’s therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace for help in time of need.
